HUYE- There was shock at the National University of Rwanda students’ hostel after a girl-child’s body was found abandoned in the toilets on Sunday.
The child was about 6-7 months old, a nurse at the scene said.The body was found abandoned in the toilets attached to a girls hostel commonly referred to as ‘Nyarutarama’.
"I was cleaning the toilets but at a point, water could move. I used a pole to unclog and see what had blocked the water. It’s then that I saw blood and alerted colleagues,” said a cleaner, only identified as Mama Kazungu.
"With the help of my colleagues, we managed to get the body out of the toilet and we immediately alerted the university authorities and the police”.
The body was taken to Butare University Teaching Hospital for post-mortem.
By press time, there was no suspect arrested but investigations were still underway, according to the Police.
