The agriculture sector has been prioritised and the benefits are already being felt. The focus on irrigation, the banks extending credit to agriculture projects and the overall increment allocated to agriculture in the 2011/2012 budget are just some of the example.

For farmers to benefit more, it is important that the idea of cooperatives are promoted further. Collectively, farmers stand to have stronger bargaining power and make more profits.

Projects to add more value to the yields should also be considered.
