THE National Olympic Committee (RNOC) has rewarded Rwanda’s gold medalist Hermans Cliff Muvunyi in this year’s All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique with USD2000 (Rwf 1.2m).

The 26-year-old athlete who was competing in the ‘sports for the disabled category’ won gold after clocking 50 seconds and 30 micro seconds in the 400m T46.

He also won silver in the 800m T46 after clocking 1:57:70.

While handing over the cheque, RNOC president Dr. Charles Rudakubana once again congratulated Muvunyi.

"He was phenomenon in Maputo and this is a token of appreciation from the Olympic committee and the Ministry of Sports,” the official said.

Rwanda fielded their biggest delegation (85 players and 12 officials) ever but still failed to justify the Rwf350m budget after managing only two medals.
