AFTER going public about his desire to hold onto the Amavubi job permanently, Eric Nshimiyimana knows that one way of proving his doubters wrong is by getting a result in Porto Novo.

The Wasps wind up their 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifying campaign this Sunday with an away tie against Benin.

In the first leg, Amavubi succumbed to a 3-0 defeat in their backyard (Amahoro stadium) which makes their task even much harder since they are playing away.

But Nshimiyimana does not want to dwell so much into past results.

"That was then, this is now,” he said, shortly before the team’s departure on Thursday.

"This is a fresh start for the boys and they are hungry for a win. They have trained hard in the build up to this match and deserve to get something out of it,” the former APR and Amavubi midfielder added.

Rwanda find themselves at the bottom of Group H after managing just one win in five matches.

That win came against Burundi in the first leg were the wasps registered a 3-1 victory at Kigali Regional Stadium.

The only other time that Nshimiyimana was given the cameo role; he made the most of it by guiding a youthful Amavubi side to the final of the 2009 Cecafa Challenge Cup in Kenya.

The team finally succumbed to a 2-0 defeat against the Uganda Cranes.

Some of the other candidates for the job include Ratomir Dujkovic, Nigeria’s Stephen Keshi, former SC Villa, St.George and Al-Hilal coach Mico Milutin Sredojevic (Serbian), current Burundi coach Adel Amrouche , Zoran Djordjevic (Serbian), Tosi Noel (French), Stefano Cusin (Italian), Bahner Siegfried (German), Tom Saintfiet (Belgian), Branco Smiljanic (Serbian) and Jean Marie Ntwgabirwa.
