Two days ago, I read something that was posted by a friend on my Facebook wall. I did not give it much thought at first but rather, quickly clicked the like button and off I went to my duties. The following day, I was reminded about what I read and that is where my focus is in today’s story.

It read, "Fri(END), boyfri(END), girlfri(END), bestfri(END). Everything has an end except Fam(ILY)! It has three letters that say, I love you”.
When one gets down to reality, they will definitely find this phrase so true, just stop and think. Well, this could be another person’s mentality but it would not cause another any problem, if they learnt from it.
A family happens to be the smallest unit in any given society. It creates belonging, unlike other types of relationships that end. The family relationship cannot be done away with at its best or worst form.
Even if one is unruly, disrespectful, disobedient et cetera, just like in the parable of the prodigal son, for some reason or another, when they come back, a family will always receive them with open hands.
I am absolutely sure that, if a spouse is unruly, disrespectful and disobedient, a partner would call off the relationship without even allowing chance for possible reconciliation.
Blood is thicker than water even though we experience other relationships that are far more enriching than biological ties.
Family will always be closest, even when it rejects its very own; by the virtue that you were born there you are still part of them. There is a way in which family members, who cause shame to their family, are still loved. They would never want anything wrong to happen to them. They will offer protection and moral support at the end of the day.
Somehow, they will accept their own after all, one can never be born elsewhere, a human being is born once from a parent’s flesh, blood and therefore no hope to find another family.
With our family members we share the same genetic makeup, same blood and it’s common that family members tend to understand themselves more than anyone else. It is then in our families that we can only find everlasting love.
A family can tolerate what a friend, girlfriend, boyfriend cannot, the same way these relationships can come to an end but a family relationship can never end.
Once one is born in a particular family, they cannot sign out of it. The subscription fee that was paid for membership was simply being born in that particular family and it’s for eternity.
We are therefore obliged to love, cherish and treasure our families because we can never find this bond elsewhere.
