NYAGATARE – More than 93 percent of residents of Rwempasha Sector have paid their health insurance cover for next year with others even paying for 2013.

The sector, located in Nyagatare District, has collected more than Rwf 27 million from the over 10,000 residents.

This was disclosed at a ceremony to award Cyenjojo Cell a cash prize of Rwf 100,000 in recognition of its efforts in enrolling residents in health insurance.

Handing over the cheque, Rwempasha Sector Executive Secretary, James Gakuru, noted that thr people’s commitment to meet health insurance cover guaranteed them better health to be able to involve themselves in other developmental programmes.

"We were supposed to have reached 100 percent target of 2012 in health insurance, but only two cells delayed to submit their annual reports. This is a sign that our residents are committed to implementing government programmes,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of Cyenjojo residents, Kasiyani Karenzi, the cell Executive Secretary, welcomed the award and commended residents for hitting the target.

"The only driving force to this achievement was mass mobilisation,” he noted.

"Our commitment to become role models in the sector will not stop here. We want to keep mobilising people to speed up government programmes,” said Claudine Mukayuhi, a resident said.
