The four foreign-based players summoned to join the national football team Amavubi Stars’ are expected to link up with the rest of the squad on Thursday next week. 

The Ferwafa Chief Executive Officer, Jules Kalisa told Times Sport yesterday that the Europe based professional players have all been contacted and they are expected to return back in the country next week.

"We have contacted four professional players and they have confirmed with us (Ferwafa) that they are returning back home on Thursday next week,” Kalisa said.

The Europe based players include Olivier Karekezi of Helsingborg in Sweden, Jimmy Mulisa of RFC Tournai in Belgium and Saidi Abedi Makasi of Hapoel Petach FC in Israel.

The other foreign based player is goal custodian, Ramahzan Nkuzingoma who features for TP Mazembe.

The Amavubi Stars will play against Liberia in the African Nations’ Cup qualifier due on September 8 at Amahoro stadium.

Ferwafa short listed 24 players to start preparations for their last group game against Liberia and a residential intensive training is held in Gisenyi, Northern Province.

 Rwanda, with three points at the bottom of the group V after four qualifying ties, will need a win in the last home game to win back the fans.

Rwanda lost the last qualifying game against Cameroon 1-2 in Douala but this time the national football federation is optimistic that their derby against Liberia in Kigali may go in favour of the Amavubi Stars.

Rwanda will play Liberia in Kigali while group leaders Cameroon travel to Malabo for their crucial tie against Equatorial Guinea.

Meanwhile, Cameroon has already qualified to take part in the 2008 Ghana African Nations Cup.Ends
