GASABO - Police in Kagugu Cell, Kinyinya Sector, Gasabo District, yesterday, arrested five students from Groupe Scolaire Kagugu for allegedly stealing laptops from the school

The students stole 13 One Laptop per Child (OLPC) equipment on Friday afternoon from the classroom where the computers are kept.

The Headmaster of the school, Edward Nizeyimana, said that they got the information from a teacher who saw a hole in the wall of the classroom and immediately suspected theft.

"Together with the security organs in the area, we followed up the information. It led us to a nearby residence where we arrested one of the suspected thieves and the people in the neighbourhood told us they saw him carrying four laptops,” he said.

"We have nabbed all of them, We hope this serves as a lesson to other students who might also harbour plans of stealing OLPC machines,” he asserted.

He mentioned that the implicated students are in senior one and two and are between the ages of 17 and 18.
