Editor,Today, October 1, is the day, 21 years ago, the liberation struggled started and as a Rwandan who has lived in this country since the 1994 genocide against Tutsi, I can say confidently that it was not in vain.Over the last seventeen years, a lot has been achieved under the visionary President Paul Kagame.

Today, October 1, is the day, 21 years ago, the liberation struggled started and as a Rwandan who has lived in this country since the 1994 genocide against Tutsi, I can say confidently that it was not in vain.
Over the last seventeen years, a lot has been achieved under the visionary President Paul Kagame. The country has been transformed with Rwanda now recognised as one of the best governed countries, not only in the region but in the World as well.
The democratisation process after the Genocide has produced results with public service delivery and the fight against corruption being very impressive.
The government has united all Rwandans and facilitated those in exile to return home. Rwandans today, enjoy equal rights.
Today, all Rwandans get jobs on merit. Under Habyarimana, some people were above the law, would commit crimes and go unpunished.
Today, any one suspected of a crime goes to court to prove their or her innocence. I am proud to be Rwandan.
