Eighteen-year-old Cynthia Akazuba was declared Miss Kigali 2007. The Lycée de Kigali Senior Five student hopes to study ICT at the university.

What do you intend to do in your capacity as Miss Kigali?

I’m working on so many projects; one of them is creating advocacy for retarded and needy children.

When were you happiest?

It was November 2007, when I was maiden Miss Kigali and crowned by the First Lady, Mrs. Jeannette Kagame. Despite of my age and background, I was flattered to hug and rob shoulders with the First Lady and other government high ranking officials.   

When you were a child you wanted to be…

An engineer and probably a model.

Your greatest inspiration?

It might be His Excellence President Paul Kagame. He is a man of his word.

At night you dream of…..

Weird and unimaginable things.

Your favourite item of clothing?

A silky and well fitting evening dress or tight jeans.

The book you cannot put down?

"Purpose Driven Life”. It helped me realize my purpose to live, thus making me try to live a Godly life.  

What is your greatest fear?

Embarrassment. I always try my best to avoid anything that can embarrass me.

What your most unappealing habit?

Bad eating habits. I can’t tolerate people who eat with their mouth open. 

What is your favourite word?

Jesus! Often, times I don’t intend to say it but finding myself speaking it out.

Who is the lucky man in your life?

That’s a personal issue.

Hawai

When did you last cry, and why?

I cry almost everyday. I cry when I’m delighted and I also cry when I’m disappointed.

Your style icon?

Eva Longoria. She is an American actress. I’m crazy about her.

If you have time to yourself……

I sit in my small bedroom and read books, and sometimes hangout with friends. 

Your beauty secrets?

Nothing extraordinary. Just lotions and lip gloss. I don’t like too much make-up, which I believe contain a lot of chemicals which might react negatively on one’s skin. I just keep my skin natural.

Your health would be kaput if…

I don’t eat rice and beans.

The country you are dying to visit?

Jamaica
