RWANDA’s light weight champion Jean Maurice Bikorimana will fight Ecuador’s Andreso Rojas in the preliminary round of the Aiba World Boxing Championship this Friday in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Should be beat Rojas, an even sterner test in Roniel Solotongo from Cuba awaits him in the first round.
The light weight fighter is chasing for a ticket to next year’s London Olympic Games.
Bikorimana had a forgettable display in the just ended All Africa Games in Maputo after suffering a first round exit at the hands of Nigeria’s Akanji Muyideen.
His Rwandan counterpart Vincent Nsengiyumva also fell to Muyideen while Feather weight (66kg) fighter Salim Kwizera was knocked out in the second round by Bruno Julio of Mauritius.
In some of Friday’s other fights, Ghana’s Michael Amoo will face Pkhakadze Koba of Georgia while Aly Eslam of Egypt takes on homeboy Gadzhialieyev Gaybatul.
