The treaty to guide the trans-border management of flora, fauna and other tourist attractions between Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo is a welcome development which will promote tourism among the countries.

I hope the ongoing consultations between the three countries regarding the implementation of the Greater Virunga Trans boundary Collaboration (GVTC) bear fruit.

Rwanda has done well as far as eliminating poaching and illegal hunting is concerned and I hope the treaty guides other Governments to solve trans-boundary problems once and for all. This will promote tourism, which brings in high revenues for the three countries.

It would also pave way for joint activities such as monitoring and research, development of new tourism products, and community conservation interventions.
