RULINDO - Fina Bank staff, over the weekend, joined residents of Rushaki Sector in Rulindo District in the monthly community work Umuganda and contributed to the construction of three classrooms at Group Scolaire Tara.
The classrooms are meant to accommodate students under the new 12-Year-Basic Education program that gets underway at the beginning of next academic year that starts January 2012.
Members of the RDF and Police also participated in the exercise, helping with the ferrying stones and bricks that were used for the construction.
The Mayor of Rulindo Justus Kangwagye, thanked the bank, for their support, and called upon residents to make good use of the assistance, saying that if they redouble their efforts, they could take on any challenge.
He told the people of Tara that they have the power and will to tackle head-on other shortcomings they face.
Speaking at the event, Richard Ngabonziza, who led the delegation from the bank, said that it was their duty to give back to society.
He promised to work hand in hand with the Rulindo residents, as they now have a branch at Nyirangarama Centre, home to Sina Gerard’s Urwibutso Enterprises.
The bank also paid communal health insurance cover, Mutuelle de Santé for 50 vulnerable families and donated Frw 200,000, towards the completion of the classrooms.
The Fina Bank manager at the Nyirangarama Branch, Bernard Ngendahayo, pledged to offer more support to the residents and encouraged them to adopt a savings culture.
