After a long time without singing, hip-hop artist, Gerald Innocent Nkubiri, bettter known as Bac-T, has vowed to return to the music scene ‘in style’.
He will be launching his 16-track album, "The Return of the Superman”, which is also his second, at the end of the year, on a date that is yet to be set. The album is headed by his new record, "Superman”.
Bac-T, who most often sings in Kiswahili, went silent after his 2010"Ice Cream” song collabo with former singer, The Ben- though he later appeared in "Invune” a remix, by Pacson.
Like many artists, journalists and fans, Bac-T is not comfortable with the way some radio presenters do their job.
"I will always blame media coz they promote poison and forget real music. Mhhh…. we still have some radio presenters who are either biased or just can’t differentiate the ill and cool music, which is unfortunate of an industry that wants to get somewhere.”
Though the thick voiced singer is an emcee himself, with a daily showbiz program, he nevertheless asserts that he was among those affected by unfair promotion, which has kept him struggling in the industry, for years.
He is also frustrated about how much an artist can reap from music in Rwanda. He gives an example of his 2008, "More Fire” dancehall hit which was a hit both in Rwanda and Tanzania but did not add a lot to his success tale.
Though he has released very many songs, most of them passing unheard, Bac-T hopes to make it this time, with his upcoming "Return of the Superman” album.
