Editor,
I am Ugandan, living in Kampala. I recently visited the Rwandan capital, Kigali, for the first time, and found out that there is plenty to learn from this country.
The first thing that strikes any visitor is the cleanliness of the city.Kigali is sparkling clean, and personally, I think it is the cleanest city in East and Central Africa if not the entire Africa.
For the ten days I spent in Rwanda, nowhere did I see stinking garbage that is now synonymous with some cities.
I walked at night with friends and crime is virtually non-existent in the Rwandan capital. One can even walk alone in the city in the dead of night without fear of being robbed!
The safety in Kigali is indeed in stark contrast to the situation we know in most African countries where muggers, robbers and killers reign supreme in urban areas.
My ten days in Kigali were a welcome break.
