Editor,
Allow me to congratulate the Government and the Rwandan people for scooping the ‘Global Health, Technology and Development Award’ during the South-South Awards ceremony held in New York, on Monday, this week.
As a member of the Diaspora, I felt proud to strongly believe the award is well deserved.
On a recent trip to my motherland, I noticed great progress in terms of development. I have spent a number of years living in the US and had heard a lot about the transformation of the country.
I took time off work and went back home to visit. I was amazed with what I saw, everything had changed. My upcountry community had electricity and water and the people looked healthy and happy.
And amongst the impressive developments was to learn that all the residents in the neighbourhood have medical insurance and community health workers visit people’s homes to follow up on their health.
So when I saw Minister Mushikiwabo accept the award, I nodded with pride. It is well deserved. Rwanda is going places.
