RWANDA’s oldest volleyball tournament, Coupe du Rwanda has landed a three-year sponsorship deal from the national utility in charge of Electricity, Water and Sanitation (EWSA).
The body committed Rwf 9m, which will be spread over three years, starting with this year’s edition slated for the weekend.
12 teams have confirmed participation this year and they include APR, National University of Rwanda (NUR), KVC, KIE, Karongi, Unatek, Lycee de Nyanza, CXR, RRA and Ruhango.
The vice president of the national volleyball federation (FRVB) Philbert Mutwarasibo commended EWSA for their support but urged other corporate companies to come on board.
"EWSA’s contribution will go a long way in making the tournament a success but we need more sponsors if we are to incorporate regional teams,” he said.
APR dominated last year’s edition after lifting both (men and women) titles.
