KAMONYI- Shock engulfed residents of Ngamba Sector in Kamonyi District after the body of a 61-year- old woman was found in a coffee plantation.
Marguerita Mukankundiye is believed to have been hacked to death by unknown assailants, while in her coffee plantation in Kigina Village in Marembo Cell.
Security officials stated that the incident occurred early Monday morning stating that Mukankundiye’s body bore bruises.
Police say that three people have been arrested in connection with the murder, but the prime suspect is still at large.
"Two of the suspects are her family members and the other is the deceased’s neighbour. Further investigations are still underway,” police said.
Ngamba Sector Executive Secretary, Egide Mazimpaka, said that the deceased was involved in a feud with her eldest son.
"Residents suspect the involvement of her son because he alleges that the woman bewitched all his children who died,” Mazimpaka said.
