APR’s new head coach Rene Feller has been offered just a one-year contract and is expected start work next week, club secretary general has said.

The Dutchman returned to his native Holland to collect his family last Tuesday just a day after he was confirmed as APR’s new coach.

According to Maj. Alex Sabiti, Feller is expected back in the country to start work at the end of next week but no specific day (for his return) has been given.

"He went back (to Holland) on Tuesday and should return in ten days time (from the day he left),” Sabiti noted.

Asked about the duration of the contract he signed, the APR SG said, "One year but renewable depending on his performance”.

On whether they took time to learn about their latest appointment and if they think he is the right man to take APR where all his predecessors failed, Maj. Sabiti said, "We hope so”. "We had enough time to get to know him well before giving him the job and we thought he can do it (than his predecessors), but you never know because things do change,” he acknowledged.

The one-year contract offered to the new coach coupled with Maj. Sabiti’s seemingly indecisive comments could be a sign that the club indeed has no total faith in the Dutchman but maybe we shouldn’t get there yet.

Until the time he took over the APR, Feller was head coach of all Eritrea national teams and when put to task to explain whether he was still contracted to Eritrea or APR simply bought him from it, Maj. Sabiti stated, "I have nothing to comment about that”.

"Personally, I haven’t been around lately to get know all the details regarding his previous job but one thing I’m certain of, is that his contract with Eritrea had expired.
