As part of the celebrations to mark this year’s International Day of Peace, slated for September21, National Unity and Reconciliation Commission (NURC), has organised a concert at Petite Stadium.

The Director of Peace Building and Conflict Management at the NURC, Laurence Mukayiranga, told The New Times, that the artistes who would participate in the event, are those who have been committed in promoting peace through their music.

"Among other things, people easily get the message through music, poems and movies; hence the reason we decided to organise a concert to grace the event,” Mukayiranga noted.

Artistes expected to partake in the event include Alpha Rwirangira, Kitoko, Kizito Mihigo, Man Martin, Sophie Nzayisenga, Dieudonne Munyanshoza, and award-winning filmmaker, Edward Bamporiki.

Bamporiki said the concert is an opportunity for the artistes to share and remind the public of what is expected in order to have a peaceful nation.

"Our country has gone through difficult times and as artistes, through our work, we shall do our best to educate, especially the young generation, on the importance of peace as well as their responsibilities,” he promised.
