According to the Director of Communication and Public Outreach in the Parliament, Augustine Habimana, about 80 delegates are expected to take part in the conference.
"Part of the agenda of the meeting is capacity building of parliamentary institutions and focus on training parliamentary staff,” said Habimana.
He added that some of the objectives of the network include setting up of a database containing research findings and information to be shared by members.
"Part of what we intend to focus on is setting up a unit charged with building relations between the African parliamentary staff,” he noted.
The African Network of Parliamentary Staff was set up in 2003. However, it is yet to fully establish itself.
Countries that have confirmed their participation include Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Congo Brazzaville, Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Gabon, Guinée, Madagascar, Mali, Maroc, Niger, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Chad and Togo.
