An international leadership lecturer, Dr Mike Armour, has commended the country’s leadership code, saying that it is result-oriented and heralds development.
Armour is the founder and president of Strategic Leadership Development International (SLDI), an organisation that provides comprehensive leadership development services across the world.
He is in the country to conduct a series of training workshops in leadership.
SLDI provides technical skills in business and leadership development including coaching, training, team building and key note presentations using veteran leadership development specialists.
"For a country to develop, you must have trained leaders who focus and desire to achieve comprehensive results. It’s important for the leaders to have the courage to do the right things that will in turn change the development of the country,” he said
Armour acknowledged that Rwanda’s good leadership and vision 2020 inspired him to extend his training skills in the country, adding that he intends to build continental headquarters in Rwanda, from where he extend training to other African countries.
"I wanted to have my headquarters in Kenya but after realising that Rwanda had good leadership especially the vision 2020, I told my colleagues to shift to Kigali,” he said.
He commended the country’s leadership, saying that Rwanda needs to train more good leaders who will be able to consolidate what the country has achieved.
Dr Armour will begin his training on Thursday this week targeting university students, company chief executives, and government officials, among others.
The chairman of Cornerstone Africa Association, Amb Zaphyr Mutanguha, welcomed the training adding that the country needs such leadership academics to coach nationals who will lead to the development of the county.
"Its a very good initiative and I think it will provide a lot to Rwandans as far as leadership is concerned”.
Rwanda will be the first country in African where Armour will offer his services, having previously travelled to Europe, the Americas and Asia.
