KIMIHURURA - Lawmakers will today start a two-week extraordinary session, following their month-long recess, Augustin Habimana, the Parliament's Director General of Communication disclosed.

According to Habimana, today’s business will include, among others, debate on the children’s rights bill.

On Tuesday, lawmakers will elect new chairpersons for the political affairs and disciplinary committees.

This comes after Alfred Gasana, the former Chairperson of the political affairs committee, was last month appointed as head of internal security in the National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS).

Parliament also seeks a replacement in the disciplinary committee following the passing of Aimable Nibishaka.

In addition, during the course of this week, lawmakers will also examine several bills including those returned from the Senate, such as the bill establishing the Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority (RCAA).

Lawmakers will also scrutinise the bills governing local in addition to international non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
