GATSIBO - The Adventist Development Relief Agency (ADRA-Rwanda), has trained several residents of Gatsibo District in horticulture farming to boost their economic activities.

This was one of the achievements ADRA highlighted at a ceremony to present its achievements before local leaders early this week, at the district headquarters in Kabarore sector.Other interventions include HIV awareness campaigns, and sensitizing people to work under cooperatives.

Beneficiaries thanked ADRA for helping them to get rid of poverty.

"Through ADRA’s training in income generating activities, I managed to buy a Frisian cow and it has produced. I have attained an acceptable status in society,” said one of the beneficiaries.

Lomuald Mbonankira, an official with ADRA-Rwanda, challenged beneficiaries to extend the skills they acquired to their neighbours.

"There are a number of people out there who did not get a chance of benefiting from this project…but we are sure that you will share the skills you have with them,” he said.

The District Mayor, Ambrose Ruboneza, hailed the project’s activities in the district and requested them to extend them in all sectors of the district.
