EASTERN PROVINCE

RWAMAGANA — The Mayor of Rwamagana district, Valens Ntezirembo has urged district development partners to strengthen the district’s Joint Action Forum (JAF).

The district’s JAF acts as a platform where all district development plans, drawn up by all development partners, are discussed for effective implementation.

Addressing JAF members on Wednesday, Ntezirembo challenged members to turn their plans into action in order to uplift the district’s economy.

The Mayor criticized partners who have delayed in handing in their action plans for this year. He noted that timely presentation of their plans was the key to carrying out monitoring and evaluation of their activities.

Norbert Munyarusisiro, the president of Rwamagana district JAF, explained that a strong forum was instrumental in ensuring effective service delivery for residents.

He disclosed that only four out of more than 30 development partners had handed their annual action plans to the district.

The meeting resolved among other things to employee a permanent official to run the secretariat of the JAF as a means of strengthening it.

In a related development, Leonie Mukanyamibwa, the manager of the National Bank of Rwanda, Eastern Province branch, urged members to seek loans, saying women’s credit facilities and agricultural credit facilities are at their disposal.
