Rwanda Revenue Authority’s recent launch of online tax payment was indeed long overdue. I could not believe it at first when I read this in the New Times but when I proceeded, I was convinced that at last the days of the long queues at RRA and other payment points would be history.

I believe it will also save us from the heavy nights we spend at RRA especially during peak periods while declaring Value Added Tax and Pay As You Earn.

However, my plea is for the tax-man to train taxpayers extensively on the use of the new system to avoid possible slip-ups that could lead to penalties.
