PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) Rwanda Limited yesterday donated 340 bags of cement worth Rwf 3 million to the management of Gasabo District.

PWC is a firm which provides professional advice on financial services for private and public institutions.

Speaking to The New Times shortly after handing over the cement to Gasabo District, Paul Frobisher Mugambwa, who led a delegation of PWC staff, said that the donation is in line with their policy of giving back to society.

"As an organisation that carries out corporate activities, it’s imperative for us to engage in contributing to the national developmental activities like this one to eliminate thatched houses” Mugambwa said.

He said that PWC is impressed by how the government has managed to implement the anti-thatched house campaign in a short period of time countrywide.

Mugambwa said that each year, their company comes up with a program on how to give back to the society through working with the districts’ management, adding that  more districts would benefit from their assistance.

Speaking to The New Times, the Mayor of Gasabo, Willy Ndizeye, welcomed the initiative by PWC saying that it would enable them to complete the program on time.

He said that the cement would be used in sectors where some houses are still under construction especially in Ndera, Nduba and Jabana.

Ndizeye noted that the donation is a good gesture which should be adopted by other organisations to extend similar assistance to districts where houses are still under construction.
