James Ruhumuriza, better Known as “King James” is one of the most popular R&B singers in Rwanda. The 21-year-old showed up on the music scene in 2006, when he recorded his “unknown” debut song that did not surface on airwaves. Never discouraged though, the “Naratomboye” singer finally made it, with his 2009 hit “Intinyi”. This single ushered him on several shows that he started to get booked for performances on a regular basis.

It was also around the same time that other fans’ favourites like Meddy of ‘Igipimo’ and the ‘Uzaza Ryari’ star, The Ben, were upbeat. King James was forced to sing many good songs to contain this competition.
He might have gotten disappointed at the 2009 Salax Awards, when he walked home empty handed, while his competitors celebrated with more than one award.
After the departure of Meddy and The Ben, King James’ got enough space to convince his fans that he was the last star standing. He then won a 2010 Salax Award, for the Best R&B artist.
He was also nominated among the Primus Guma Guma’s top ten famous artists, where he finished second, behind fellow R&B singer, Tom Close.
His marital status on has always been changing, from single, to searching, then complicated.
