A bill that seeks to place the Public Service Commission (PSC) under the Office of the President, has been sent to parliament and expected to be deliberated on soon.

Presently, the Commission reports to the Parliament.

According to the Executive Secretary of the PSC, Angelina Muganza, the move will neither affect nor change the commission’s duties.

"The move is aimed at harmonising the way work is done; you realised all other commissions report to the President’s Office apart from PSC,” Muganza said.

The Director of Parliamentary Communication and Outreach, Augustin Habimana, confirmed that the bill had been sent to parliament though the date for its tabling is yet to be determined.

"The draft law will possibly be tabled sometime after October 5, when MPs return from recess,” said Habimana.

The PSC is a national body charged with resolving conflicts and disputes arising between public servants and their supervisors.
