Gasabo elects new RPF Vice chairperson

GASABO - The leadership of Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) in Gasabo District, yesterday elected Eugene Gisagara as the party’s new vice chairperson.Gisagara replaced the late Captain (Rtd) Augustine Iyako who died in a car accident on August 6.Prior to his new post, Gisagara had been the head of the RPF Disciplinary Committee in Gasabo District.

GASABO - The leadership of Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) in Gasabo District, yesterday elected Eugene Gisagara as the party’s new vice chairperson.

Gisagara replaced the late Captain (Rtd) Augustine Iyako who died in a car accident on August 6.

Prior to his new post, Gisagara had been the head of the RPF Disciplinary Committee in Gasabo District. 

During the ruling party’s general assembly which took place at Kigali Independent University (ULK) graduation ground in Gisozi sector, Gisagara got 356 votes out of the total 413.

The event also included electing other RPF committee members in the district in charge of various positions which include the chairpersons of economic affairs, social affairs, security and discipline.

Speaking to The Sunday Times shortly after being elected, Gisagara said: "I am happy for the RPF members in this district for having trusted me to become the party’s vice chairperson and I will work with my colleagues to accelerate development in the district”.

He added that he will strive to promote the social welfare of all residents in the District and to encourage them to be hard working, saying that it would enable the district and the country in general to achieve sustainable development.

The Mayor of Kigali city, Fidele Ndayisaba, who is also the chairperson of RPF in the city, requested RPF members in Gasabo District to always work hand-in-hand saying that it would spur development in the district.

He encouraged them to promote service delivery in their respective daily activities, and also urged those present to fight against poverty, corruption and injustice.
