Nkusi to embark on quality education

In a bid to improve the education sector,  former cabinet minister, Prof. Laurent Nkusi, who is the sole candidate in the senatorial race to represent private institutions of higher learning, has said he will put much emphasis in finding out problems hampering the sector in the country.

In a bid to improve the education sector,  former cabinet minister, Prof. Laurent Nkusi, who is the sole candidate in the senatorial race to represent private institutions of higher learning, has said he will put much emphasis in finding out problems hampering the sector in the country.

 Nkusi made the remarks, Friday, while campaigning at Byumba Polytechnique Institute (IPB) in Gicumbi District in search for votes.

He said that once elected, he will do everything possible to follow up on the problems affecting quality education at the higher institutions of learning.

"I will push for critical thinking, debating on certain issues which have been hindering quality education,” he said.

The 61-year old academic is currently the Vice Rector of Academics at the Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Education of Kibungo (INATEK).

He emphasised the need to develop research at the higher institutions of learning by urging lecturers to always publish their research for the improvement of the education sector.

Nkusi also said he will promote environment conservation stressing that the country’s environment needs to be advanced.
