FEDERATION of International Automobiles President Jean Todt arrives in the country this morning for a one day visit that will see him bring to Rwanda the UN Decade of Action for road safety, an initiative that seeks to reduce road traffic fatalities around the world.

According to the Secretary General of Rwanda Automobile Club Christian Gakwaya, Todt’s visit will also see him bestow the Road Safety Tag, a global symbol of movement to improve safety on roads to a Government Official.

"First of all it is an honor that Jean Todt is visiting Rwanda. He is on a global awareness campaign for reduction of road traffic accidents.

He will also give the road safety tag to a government representative but we are not yet sure who will get it,” Gakwaya told Times Sport yesterday.

RAC is also in advanced stages of organizing the Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Rally scheduled for September 30-October 2.

The rally which will cover Northern, Kigali and Eastern provinces is set to attract leading African rally drivers from South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) recently renewed a $50,000 (about Frw29.5 million) sponsorship package for the 3 day rally.
