I’m glad that sugar prices have recently gone down. Following the recent sugar deficit on the market, partly caused by the temporally closure of Kabuye sugar works for maintenance, the government set the price of 1kg at Rwf800 to protect consumers.

At most, we were paying Rwf1,200 and cried out to the government to save us. We now pay the set price of the commodity with hopes for further reduction. I hope the authorities would also put a price cap on other goods especially agricultural products to protect farmers.
