GASABO - Police along with Gasabo District authorities have arrested eight suspected robbers and three women who were nabbed selling illicit brew.

The eight men were found in possession of stolen electronic equipment including seven laptops, an LG flat screen TV, a projector, generator among others.

According to the police spokesperson, Theos Badege, the suspects were arrested as a result of close working relations between security and the residents who helped in identifying them.

"We are going to intensify the fight against these crimes. We shall work hand in hand with the community. We shall keep hunting down criminals,” Badege said.

Gabriel Opare of Light House Chapel International, Kimironko, was among the people whose property was recovered.

He commended the Police for facilitating the recovery of equipment belonging to his church.

"Thugs broke into our church two weeks ago and stole a projector, piano keyboard, amplifier and microphones and other property. I reported the matter to the Police and they started investigations, and today, I have recovered the property,” Opare said.

The Mayor of Gasabo District, Willy Ndiziye, said that cases of theft are widespread in the city.

He pledged to work together with the police to fight the crimes, urging residents to play a central role in such operations.
