Prof. Kananga Simba Ntale, who is vying for the upcoming senatorial elections to represent public institutions of higher learning, has pledged to facilitate job creation if he sails through to the senate.

In an interview with The New Times, yesterday, Prof. Kananga, a lecturer at the Kigali Health Institute (KHI) department of mental health, explained that his passion for education inspired him to contest for the seat.

"I started my teaching career back in 1983, and if elected, I will strive to introduce a university education system that creates jobs, reduces unemployment and sees challenges as opportunities not as problems to live with,” Kananga said.

He noted that unemployment is among the factors that demoralise people and can even lead to political instability in any country.

"It’s in this regard that I want to see our universities and other institutions graduate students who consider job seeking as an option but not a necessity,” Kananga said.

The don started teaching at KHI in 2008. Kananga, who is also a practicing mental health doctor, was born in Bugesera District on June 29, 1959 and is married with four children.
 
He completed his primary and secondary education in Luweero District in Uganda and in 1980 attended the Canadian University College where, in less than four years, he graduated with two degrees including Bachelor of Education in Teaching Social Sciences and Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Sciences.

He later left for the USA where he earned a Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Loma Linda University and a Doctorate of Education in School Administration and Leadership from La Sierra University.

In 2004, he joined the American Behavioral Studies Institute where he obtained a second Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology.
