The Executive Secretary of National Commission for the Fight against Genocide (CNLG), Jean De Dieu Mucyo, has called upon Rwandans to comprehensively write on the history of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

He made the call, yesterday, during a CNLG forum that brought together researchers, members from the civil society organisations, government institutions and academics, among others, to discuss how Genocide can be widely written and published.

"There is need for information from every district, or any other historical evidence describing how the Genocide was planned, executed and the perpetrators,” he said.

"It’s easier for revisionists to disseminate their propaganda if there is no well documented proof”.

Mucyo added that when such information is gathered and published, it is used as proof of the Genocide, thereby, helping to prevent it as well as fighting its ideology.

"Rwandans should be at the forefront of writing stories on Genocide because there are so many people who believe that Genocide occurred but don’t understand how it was organised and implemented,” he said.

Mucyo underscored that the publications will be consolidated into an "Encyclopaedia on Genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi” thus facilitating research activities and as well as upholding the truth about it history.

Dr. Diogene Bideri, the acting Director General of the Research and Documentation Centre, emphasised that the world should know the true context in which the Genocide was carried out and the brutal perspective it was conducted in and its genesis.

He said that all the oral testimonies given by the survivors during the commemoration period should be written and published.

"Such documented history will assist both local and international researchers to conduct analytical studies in the field of Genocide,” he noted.
