The national football federation’s Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa has scoffed at any possibility of sacking embattled Amavubi Stars coach Sellas Tetteh.

Tetteh’s poor record continued on Saturday when Amavubi was mauled 5-0 by the Cote d’voire’s Elephants and unless the wasps win their last fixture against Benin in Porto-Novo, they will finish last in Group H.

The Ghanaian U20 Fifa World Cup winning coach signed a two-year deal that runs out next year in June and was tasked to qualify Amavubi to the 2012 Nations’ Cup and also guide the U-23 side to the Maputo Games, which Tetteh has failed to do.

"We need to first evaluate why the team has been underperforming. It may be the coach’s fault or other factors. The World Cup qualifiers are also starting very soon, so we can’t afford to be looking for a new coach.

"Therefore, at the moment, there is no consideration of sacking him,” Kalisa told this paper after Saturday’s humiliating home, the heaviest for Rwanda on home turf.

Tetteh has been in charge of the national team for 16 games now, with only two wins and 3 draws, losing the rest.

In the other Group H match played on Sunday in Bujumbura, Burundi grab a late equaliser against Benin through APR target Papy Faty on the 90th minute.

Benin took the lead through Guy Akpagba on 55 minutes. Both teams are tied on five points each with one game remaining. Cote d’voire has already qualified with maximum points.
