The construction of a vocational institute in Nyaruguru District will kick off next month, an initiative led by World Vision Rwanda, which will donate US$500,000 towards the project.
World Vision`s South Zonal Manager, Christine Mukamugema, told The New Times the construction work would take approximately eight months.
"We are closely working with the district to ensure that we achieve our target of having this institution operational by October next year,” Mukamugema said.
She explained that to ensure quality education, the district, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Workforce Development Authority (WDA), will play a leading role in the running of the institution.
"This institution is part of our Area Development Programs (ADP) in the district, to enable the youth acquire vocational skills so that they can successfully integrate into the economic cycle,” she said.
The Mayor of Nyaruguru District, Francois Habitegeko, welcomed the move, saying it would bridge the skills gaps amongst the youth.
"We have been having institutions which enrol students with low education levels, but this institution will register even those who complete high school, not only from our district, but also from the neighbourhood,” Habitegeko said.
The institution will be constructed on a two hectare piece of land in Kibeho Sector which was donated by the district.
