Zirimwabagabo pointed out that the library will be opened either late November or early December this year.
He said that the construction activities for the complex situated in Kacyiru Sector in Gasabo District are complete 98 percent in terms of civil works, adding that what remains are final touches which include vanishing and installing office furniture.
"Initially, the library was supposed to be opened early March this year but the delays were a result of various construction changes on the building,” Zirimwabagabo said.
He added that the construction of the library is aimed at fighting ignorance among by promoting the culture of reading in the country.
According to Zirimwabagabo, the facility, with three floors, will have a capacity for 25,000 books in shelves and 20,000 others which will be kept in stock.
He noted that 45,000 books are already on sight adding that they plan to buy more books from various parts of the world.
Zirimwabagabo also revealed that readers will have online access to books that are not available at the library.
He noted that the library, will be the largest public library in East Africa and is expected to be completed at the tune of between $2-3 million.
