Teen rapper "Young Grace” appeared on the music scene with a bang, last year, when she immediately won a "Salax Music Award” for "Best Teen Artist”.
Real name Grace Abayizeye, her win over famed competitors like, Lil G and Lil Ngabo and toddler Babou attracted much debate.
The 17 year old had only one known song, "Hip Hop Game” which also rarely surfaced on the airwaves.
Lil G on the other hand had real hits like "Nimba Umugabo” alongside singer Meddy. Newcomer, Babou’s single, "That’s my Name” also played more than Young Grace. Lil Ngabo, the previous winner was still respected as one of the best entertainers around.
The secret behind the lady rapper’s success however, was the fact that she had gathered more fans to vote for her in the category.
This was even notable on the awards show. Fans, especially from her Gisenyi home base, raided Kigali to support their home girl.
But, the rapper has since gone missing music-wise- she never released any songs after.
Well, Grace explained to The Sunday Times that she was kept busy by books, as she is a high school finalist.
She has also reportedly unleashed her new duets; "Icyigusha” featuring Knowless, and "Icimenyane” which she sang with Lil G.
The youngster has kept her competitors complaining, though she is silent at the moment.
