After finishing second in the Zone Five karate championship in July in Nairobi, the national karate team coach Ruslan Adamov has challenged his team to display a similar performance in the All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique. The team jets out on Thursday and Adamov expects his players to challenge for medals in the 10th edition, which runs from September 3-18.
After finishing second in the Zone Five karate championship in July in Nairobi, the national karate team coach Ruslan Adamov has challenged his team to display a similar performance in the All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique.
The team jets out on Thursday and Adamov expects his players to challenge for medals in the 10th edition, which runs from September 3-18.
"It is difficult to set targets because I don’t want to put the players on pressure, but they did well in the Zone five last month, so I will be challenging them to repeat that performance,” stated the Russian coach, who signed a two year deal in February.
Rwanda will play in two categories: Kumite and Kata.
Nine players, including one girl will represent the country. They are; Didier Gaga Rukorera, Noel Nkuranyabahizi, Isamel Nshimiyimana, Muhamed Semakula (Captain), Vincent Munyeshaka, Haruna Sibomana, Jean Omar Masudi, Epaphrodite Bicamumpaka and Rehema Kabera.
