Beauty : Choosing the perfect wedding gown for your body type

The high season for weddings is here; wedding planners, card makers, bakers and event planners are very jolly with money rolling in. Now it seems like I have three weddings to attend this wedding season for three very close people. The first wedding is only a month away for my sister, the second and third weddings are for two best friends who live in Kenya.

I am a maid of honour in two weddings and I have a daunting task in helping the two brides to be in choosing their dream wedding gowns, and this I must say is not an easy task for me considering the fact that we live in two different countries, but all the same I must do what I have to do.

Planning a wedding is one thing, but for the bride to choose a dream wedding gown is something else, this is because any girl will tell you that for them a wedding gown is what represents the day.

Therefore, choosing a perfect wedding gown is the dream of any girl who is about to walk down the aisle. Forget about the grandma¡¯s boring wedding gowns and enter the new designs of the wedding gowns.

One look at the different designs and you wish to experience the glamour of wearing one.
Unfortunately some ladies do not have the slightest idea when it comes to choosing the right gown for their bodies.

While some brides¡¯ look dashing in strapless gowns others will totally look the opposite. In case you are looking forward to your wedding day, you will find the below points very useful when the day comes to choosing your gown.

Different body shapes have different needs when choosing a wedding gown, choose your shape below and know what suits you best;

Pear shaped;

A lady with a pear shape should look for a skirt that gradually flares out in an A formation from the natural waist to the floor, highlighting the narrowness of the midsection and floating away from the hips and thighs.

Sturdier fabrics, such as duchesse satin and taffeta, are especially effective, since they won't cling. A spaghetti-strap bodice or a V neckline will also showcase a more slender upper body.

Busty built;

It can be very difficult for ladies who are bustier to get a well fitting gown. A dress with a scooped neckline can do wonders for bustier ladies. It will open up your face and display your d¨¦colletage without showing too much cleavage.

Plus size

Plus size women have to be even more careful when choosing their gowns. An Empire dress with a skirt that begins just under the bust and flows into a gradual floor-length A-line will do the hiding trick The dress should play up your shape; if it¡¯s too loose, it will add weight.  Find fabrics like satin that provide structure, rather than anything too flowy which will emphasize on your bigness.

Tall girls

Tall girls look good in gowns which emphasize their natural shape, so every aspect of the dress¨Dthe lower waistline, a floor-sweeping hem¨Dneeds to reflect your longer proportions.

Straight-Lined

A straight lined girl should get a dress that will create curves where they don¡¯t have them. Try a sheath dress in a wispy charmeuse that¡¯s cut on the bias; the curving side seam will give you that missing silhouette. Alternatively look for a gown that cinches in at your natural waist and descends into a full, flowing floor-length skirt: It will capitalize on your slenderness and camouflage a lack of hips.

It is always better to seek advice from a designer who will help you fit in a proper gown that will make you look like a princess and not a clown on your wedding day. To my sister Yvonne Rugina ¨C happy wedding day!
