MUSANZE - The visiting Tanzanian military delegation, led by Gen. Davis Mwamunyange, the Chief of Defence Forces, of the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF), yesterday, visited the Rwanda Military Academy-Nyakinama in Musanze District.
The delegation, accompanied by Rwanda Defence Forces Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Ceaser Kayizari, held talks with senior officials and the commandant of the academy.
Gen. Mwamunyange, who is in the country on a week-long visit at the invitation of his Rwandan counterpart, also tracked the Mountain Gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park.
The RDF Spokesman, Col Joseph Nzabamwita, said the visit is part of a series of field tours conducted by the Tanzanian delegation in Rwanda.
"This visit is preceded by the courtesy call he made to the Commander-in -Chief, and later the Minister of Defence, which was followed by several meetings. This is aimed at strengthening areas of cooperation,’’ Nzabamwita said.
Nyakinama is also home to the Rwanda Peace Academy, a regional centre where peace-related training courses are conducted.
