However, massage should not be painful or uncomfortable. If any part of your massage does not feel right or is painful, it is important to tell the massage therapist since some complications may arise as a result of too much pressure during the massage session.
Dr. Emma Muganwa, a Physical Therapist at King Faisal Hospital, people’s hectic schedules and numerous work loads lead to tension which affects the body and mind.
"Massage relaxes the body and mind. People suffering from constant migraines should go for a massage at least once a week. Migraines are as a result of the body being tense,” Dr. Muganwa explains.
He further says that if the body is tense, the mind is affected as well.
Massage is generally safe as long as it is done by trained personnel.
Women do benefit from massage sessions in different ways compared to men. The healthy benefits include; balance for irregular menstrual cycles, reducing stress, improves digestion and increases overall vitality and energy. Massage during pregnancy prepares the muscles and ligaments for childbirth.
However, women with health complications need to talk to their doctors before going for a massage session.
Cleophas Kabasiita, an Actress, says that a massage every end of the week is a treatment she promised herself.
"It is relaxing and I recommend everyone to try it, during a massage session, I feel all the toxins leave my body. I get new energy that takes me through the following week,” she said.
She adds that with the daily hectic errands that people run, require periods of relaxation for a healthy body and mind.
