MUSANZE - The Office of the Ombudsman has embarked on a week-long campaign in Musanze District where residents are set to forward injustice-related complaints to be addressed on site.

The Deputy Ombudsman, Bernadette Kanzayire, said that the outreach program would help the communities understand their rights, and any forms of injustice which may flout their freedom.

"Whatever is not in line with the law should be reported and addressed,” Kanzayire explained.

"We interact with residents and local leaders on various issues, including infringement of children’s rights and sharing of family resources which are sources of conflicts”.

The majority of cases and conflicts presented to the Office of the Ombudsman rotated around family conflicts, especially land.

Members of the community are helped to open email addresses where responses are be sent, instead of travelling to the Ombudsman’s offices in Kigali.

Charles Ndahobanzi, a resident of Kimonyi Sector, welcomed the campaign.

"This is an opportunity to have these land related conflicts solved,” Ndahobanzi said, adding that most residents were yet to be fully aware of their rights.
