These were times when parents cared about a child’s academics. As the world advances, the gap between parents and children is widening.
Most parents are too busy striving to earn a living—of course for their children. To show this, most send a child to school – ‘Educating’, which indeed builds a child’s future.
However, the matter of concern is, ‘How many parents follow up on their children’s academic performance?’
Despite busy schedules, parents should try and make time. They can visit a child at school, consult the child’s teachers on performance and lay strategies for their excellence.
This can only happen if a parent is close to a child. Checking their school books, reports and personally approaching the school administrators greatly bridges the parent-child gap.
It further inspires and motivates a child to grow academically stronger and builds a child’s vision and goal.
As Rwanda develops, we all need to move with the times and this does not include leaving out the younger generation. Children are the future.
