Editor,
The recent campaign by the Rwanda Bureau of Standards (RBS), which has seen various substandard products impounded, is commendable and needs to be maintained.
Traders who wish to make a quick buck tend to import substandard goods, which not only creates unfavorable competition, but also puts the consumers at health risks.
Ensuring that the products on the market are of the best quality, requires the support of other institutions, as well as the public.
RBS should establish stronger ties with the Rwanda Revenue Authority, Business associations, and the Private Sector Federation so that they can continue to sensitize traders on the dangers of importing or dealing in substandard products.
