Police in Kicukiro district are holding eight men on allegations of theft after two were arrested breaking into a shop in Remera Sector on Friday night. The other six are in custody as suspects in connection with related crimes having been on the run for quite some time. Police spokesperson, Theos Badege, confirmed to Sunday Times that it was during routine patrol when a resident alerted police about the incident.

The two have been identified as Patrick Bugingo and Francis Sibomana both residents of Remera.
"Strict measures will be taken against any individual caught in actions against the law, especially in activities that destabilize security,” Badege said.
The district Mayor, Jules Ndamage, said that the district, in collaboration with security operatives, have come up with a team to monitor and tighten security in the district.
"Ever since the team became operational, we have arrested 31 people in connection with unlawful acts they get involved in at night,” Ndamage said.
