Business Perspective : The power of negotiating in business

Not many years ago, I had one very tough woman boss. This is one lady I admired from day one of my employment. This lady boss was beautiful and very intelligent. She worked very hard to meet her deadlines and monthly targets, but above all she had negotiating skills that I had never seen before. This is one person who could negotiate her way even with the most difficult clients and win business for the company.

Well, we all know that not everybody is a good negotiator, and you can tell a good negotiator immediately they start talking, and for these obvious reasons every company needs to have such a person, this is the person who will take the company to the next level because of the skills and ability to negotiate even in the most difficult of situation.

Every business must be involved in some negotiations of some sort, and negotiating is a must in any business, one has to make sure that the timing is perfect when negotiating for a good business deal. For example when a company  wants to take a business loan to boost the business, they have to make sure they negotiate with their banks for better terms of repaying the loan, otherwise the company might end up getting a raw deal, and suffer the consequences.

A good negotiator is a person who has complete control of their emotions and feelings. This is a person who will make sure that they have their ideas presented in a way that is not emotional, because that will help them achieve a cool headed and calm kind of attitude as they present their ideas. This person will then be regarded as an individual who has a good idea of what he or she wants and their ideas will not come across as overly biased or self serving, but one that is favourable to both parties.

Good negotiators always make sure they appeal to the general audience. In fact when negotiating a business deal for their company, they never let it appear as if whatever services they are selling will benefit their company alone, but also stress the point as to how the entire deal will benefit the society at large. This way they make sure that they reach mass appeal for their ideas and the negotiations will have a better life span and thus win a business deal.

Negotiating is therefore an art that any businessman should poses, because it is all in the spirit of compromising, agreeing on better terms to pave way for making business at that moment and in future.
