The must have accessories for the rainy season

The rainy season is here. Watching news on the TV on Tuesday, I saw how our neighbours are not only experiencing heavy rains, but the weatherman predicted something even worse. Well I pray it doesn’t happen here, but all the same, we must be ready to brave the rains by protecting ourselves since we have also started experiencing the rains in small doses. I made a mistake and went to town without carrying an umbrella or even something to protect me from the bitting cold, and I regretted.

Bad weather can be very depressing, and being rained on has never been fun. So there are a few accessories that are a must have to beat this rainy season.

Umbrella

Remember the umbrella in Tusker Project all stars from Hemedy?   Yes, remember not to leave your umbrella behind when going out of your house in the morning, despite the fact that it might not be raining that early. The "swag” (a new name for the umbrella) might come in handy and save you from a rainy day. This is a must have item to protect you from the rains any time of the day.

Jacket, Sweater or Trench Coat

My friend Anne Wandia was looking a million dollars in her suede trench coat on Tuesday. Whether you have a jacket, a sweater or a trench coat, either of the three should not be left behind on any given day when leaving your house, during the entire season. These will help in protecting you from the biting cold, especially in the afternoon and evening when people are going back home from work.

Scarves

A scarf for both men and women is also a must have item to protect you from the biting cold. A scarf helps in protecting the neck area, which most of the time is left exposed to the cold, hence making one develop a cold. There are many ways one can wear a scarf, either way it is worn-just make sure your neck is completely covered.

Shoes

Be careful about the shoes that you wear during this time. Boots go well with the season due to the fact that they protect the feet from the biting cold very well, because they are long and cover the better part of a leg.  For those who have boots which have been lying in the closets for months, this is the time to shine in them. For those who have no boots, the normal shoes to be worn during the rainy season should be pure leather. Anyone who will wear shoes which are not genuine leather, they risk to have smelly feet.

Gloves

Gloves protect the hands from the biting cold. I know the importance of gloves in this season. Cold hands can make one develop flu or cold and when the weather is on the extreme the hands get so cold, that they go numb.

This is not the time to wear the spaghetti tops or to wear flip flop sandals. During this season it is important to layer up the clothes to keep one warm all day long, to avoid getting sick but at the same look smart.
